A savory classic featuring juicy beef patties topped with tender sautéed mushrooms and melted Swiss cheese, all nestled in a toasted bun.

⏱ 30 min🍽 Serves 4Americansandwicheasy

Ingredients

  • 1½ lb ground beef, 80/20
  • 8 oz cremini mushrooms
  • 4 Swiss cheese slices
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ¾ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)
  • 4 lettuce leaves (optional)
  • 4 tomato slices (optional)

Steps

  1. Form the ground beef into four equal patties. Season generously with salt, black pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder.
  2. Slice the mushrooms. Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced mushrooms and sauté until softened and browned, about 5-7 minutes. Stir in Worcestershire sauce if using, then set aside.
  3. Cook the beef patties on a preheated grill or in a hot skillet for 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of Swiss cheese on each patty to melt.
  4. Lightly toast the hamburger buns.
  5. Assemble the burgers: place a cheesy patty on the bottom bun, top with a generous portion of sautéed mushrooms, and add optional lettuce and tomato. Cover with the top bun and serve immediately.
