Mushroom Swiss Burger
A savory classic featuring juicy beef patties topped with tender sautéed mushrooms and melted Swiss cheese, all nestled in a toasted bun.
Ingredients
- 1½ lb ground beef, 80/20
- 8 oz cremini mushrooms
- 4 Swiss cheese slices
- 4 hamburger buns
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ¾ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)
- 4 lettuce leaves (optional)
- 4 tomato slices (optional)
Steps
- Form the ground beef into four equal patties. Season generously with salt, black pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder.
- Slice the mushrooms. Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced mushrooms and sauté until softened and browned, about 5-7 minutes. Stir in Worcestershire sauce if using, then set aside.
- Cook the beef patties on a preheated grill or in a hot skillet for 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of Swiss cheese on each patty to melt.
- Lightly toast the hamburger buns.
- Assemble the burgers: place a cheesy patty on the bottom bun, top with a generous portion of sautéed mushrooms, and add optional lettuce and tomato. Cover with the top bun and serve immediately.
