New York Strip Steak with Creamed Spinach
Enjoy a classic steakhouse experience at home with perfectly seared New York strip steak complemented by rich, creamy spinach.
Ingredients
- 2 lb New York Strip Steaks
- 16 oz Fresh Spinach
- 1 cup Heavy Cream
- 4 oz Cream Cheese
- ½ cup Parmesan Cheese, grated
- 3 clove Garlic, minced
- ½ Yellow Onion, finely diced
- 2 tbsp Butter
- 1 tbsp Olive Oil
- 1 tsp Salt
- ½ tsp Black Pepper
- ¼ tsp Nutmeg, ground (optional)
Steps
- Pat steaks dry with paper towels and season generously with salt and pepper. Let sit at room temperature for 20-30 minutes.
- Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Sear steaks for 3-4 minutes per side until a deep brown crust forms. Transfer skillet to a preheated 400°F (200°C) oven and cook for 5-8 minutes for medium-rare, or until desired doneness. Remove steaks from skillet, tent with foil, and let rest.
- In the same skillet (or a separate pan), melt butter over medium heat. Add diced onion and cook until softened, about 3-5 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add fresh spinach to the skillet in batches, stirring until wilted. Once all spinach is wilted, stir in heavy cream, cream cheese, and grated Parmesan cheese. Cook, stirring frequently, until the cream cheese is melted and the sauce thickens.
- Season the creamed spinach with salt, pepper, and nutmeg (if using).
- Slice the rested steaks against the grain.
- Serve the sliced New York strip steak immediately with a generous side of creamed spinach.
