Oven Baked BBQ Ribs

Tender, fall-off-the-bone pork ribs slow-baked in the oven with a smoky, sweet BBQ sauce.

⏱ 210 min🍽 Serves 4Americanroastmediumnut-free

Ingredients

  • 2½ lb pork spare ribs
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1½ cup BBQ sauce

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 275°F (135°C). Line a large baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top.
  2. Pat the pork ribs dry with paper towels. In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using) to create the dry rub.
  3. Generously rub the spice mixture all over the ribs. Place the ribs on the wire rack on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Bake for 2.5 to 3 hours, or until the ribs are very tender. The meat should pull away from the bone easily.
  5. Remove ribs from the oven. Increase oven temperature to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Brush both sides of the ribs generously with BBQ sauce. Return to the oven and bake for another 15-20 minutes, or until the sauce is caramelized and slightly sticky.
  7. Remove from oven, let rest for 10 minutes, then slice into individual ribs and serve.
