Pan-Seared Halibut
Enjoy tender, flaky halibut fillets with a golden crust, perfectly pan-seared and ready in minutes.
Ingredients
- 1½ lb halibut fillets
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 lemon
- ¼ cup fresh parsley (optional)
- ¾ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
Steps
- Pat halibut fillets dry with paper towels and season generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
- Heat olive oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
- Carefully place halibut fillets in the hot skillet. Sear for 3-5 minutes per side, depending on thickness, until golden brown and cooked through.
- During the last minute of cooking, add butter to the skillet. Once melted, spoon the butter over the fillets to baste.
- Remove halibut from the skillet and transfer to plates. Squeeze fresh lemon juice over each fillet.
- Garnish with chopped fresh parsley, if desired, and serve immediately.
