Philly Cheesesteak
A classic American sandwich featuring thinly sliced steak and melted cheese on a crusty roll, a true comfort food experience.
Ingredients
- 1½ lb ribeye steak
- 8 slice provolone cheese
- 4 hoagie rolls
- 1 yellow onion
- 1 bell pepper (optional)
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
Steps
- Thinly slice the ribeye steak against the grain and chop the onion and bell pepper (if using).
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Add the sliced steak and cook quickly until browned, about 2-3 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
- Remove steak from the skillet and set aside. Add butter to the skillet, then add onions and bell peppers. Sauté until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
- Return the steak to the skillet with the vegetables. Mix well.
- Divide the steak and vegetable mixture into four portions on the skillet. Place two slices of provolone cheese over each portion.
- Cover the skillet briefly to allow the cheese to melt, about 1-2 minutes.
- Lightly toast the hoagie rolls. Using a spatula, scoop each cheesy steak portion into a toasted roll.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your classic Philly Cheesesteak.
