Pork Souvlaki
Enjoy the classic flavors of Greece with tender marinated pork skewers, grilled to perfection and served with warm pita.
Ingredients
- 1½ lb pork shoulder
- ¼ cup lemon juice
- ¼ cup olive oil
- 4 clove garlic
- 2 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 4 pita bread
- ¾ cup tzatziki sauce (optional)
- ½ red onion (optional)
- 1 cup cherry tomatoes (optional)
Steps
- Cut the pork shoulder into 1-inch cubes. In a bowl, combine lemon juice, olive oil, minced garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper. Add the pork cubes and toss to coat. Marinate for at least 30 minutes at room temperature, or up to 4 hours in the refrigerator.
- If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 20 minutes to prevent burning. Thread the marinated pork cubes onto the skewers.
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
- Grill the pork skewers for 8-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until the pork is cooked through and lightly charred.
- Warm the pita bread on the grill for 1-2 minutes per side, until soft and slightly toasted.
- Serve the grilled pork souvlaki immediately with warm pita bread, and optional tzatziki, sliced red onion, and cherry tomatoes.
