Pulled Pork Sandwich
A classic American comfort food, featuring slow-cooked, tender pulled pork piled high on a soft bun, often with BBQ sauce and coleslaw.
Ingredients
- 2½ lb pork shoulder (Boston butt)
- 1 onion
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
- ½ cup chicken broth
- 1 cup BBQ sauce
- 4 hamburger buns
- 2 cup coleslaw (optional)
Steps
- Pat the pork shoulder dry and rub with a mixture of garlic powder, paprika, brown sugar, salt, and black pepper.
- Place the sliced onion at the bottom of a slow cooker. Add the seasoned pork shoulder, then pour in the apple cider vinegar and chicken broth.
- Cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the pork is very tender and easily shreds with a fork.
- Carefully remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks. Discard any excess fat.
- Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker with about 1/2 cup of the cooking liquid and stir in the BBQ sauce.
- Serve the pulled pork warm on hamburger buns, optionally topped with coleslaw.
