⏱ 45 min🍽 Serves 4Americanbreakfastmedium

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Pork breakfast sausage
  • ¼ cup All-purpose flour
  • 3 cups Whole milk
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • ½ tsp Black pepper
  • 8 count Canned biscuits
  • 2 tbsp Butter (optional)

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake biscuits according to package directions.
  2. While biscuits bake, crumble sausage into a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook, breaking up with a spoon, until browned and cooked through. Drain excess grease, leaving about 2 tablespoons in the pan.
  3. Sprinkle flour over the cooked sausage and stir well. Cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly, to create a roux.
  4. Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly to prevent lumps. Bring the gravy to a simmer, then reduce heat to low and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until thickened to your desired consistency.
  5. Season the gravy with salt and black pepper to taste. If desired, stir in 2 tablespoons of butter for extra richness.
  6. Serve the hot sausage gravy generously over the warm, freshly baked biscuits.
