  • 1½ cup all-purpose flour

  • 1½ tbsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1¼ cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • ½ cup berries (optional)
  • ¼ cup chocolate chips (optional)
  • ¼ cup maple syrup (optional)

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a large sheet pan with butter.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, egg, oil, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined (a few lumps are okay).
  5. Pour the batter evenly onto the prepared sheet pan. Sprinkle with optional toppings like berries or chocolate chips.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Remove from oven, slice into squares, and serve warm with maple syrup.
