Smoked Sausage and Cabbage
A hearty and comforting one-pan meal featuring savory smoked sausage and tender cabbage, perfect for a quick weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
- 14 oz smoked sausage
- 1 head green cabbage
- 1 yellow onion
- 2 clove garlic
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- ½ cup chicken broth
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar (optional)
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley (optional)
Steps
- Slice the smoked sausage into 1/2-inch thick rounds. Core and chop the cabbage into 1-inch pieces. Dice the onion and mince the garlic.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add the sliced sausage and cook until browned on both sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove sausage and set aside.
- Add the diced onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Stir in the chopped cabbage, chicken broth, salt, and pepper. Cover the skillet and cook for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender-crisp.
- Return the cooked sausage to the skillet. Stir in apple cider vinegar, if using, and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat through.
- Taste and adjust seasonings as needed. Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired, and serve hot.
