Smoky Chicken Skewers
Tender chicken thighs are marinated in a smoky spice blend, skewered, and seared to perfection, ideal for a flavorful Turkish-inspired meal.
Ingredients
- 1½ lb chicken thighs, boneless, skinless
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp fennel seeds
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 tsp red wine vinegar
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- ¼ cup smoky aioli (optional)
- 10 wooden skewers (optional)
Steps
- If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 10 minutes.
- Cut chicken thighs into 1-inch pieces. In a bowl, combine chicken with 1 tablespoon olive oil, fennel seeds, cumin, smoked paprika, crushed garlic, red wine vinegar, salt, and pepper. Toss well to coat.
- Thread 2-3 pieces of marinated chicken onto each skewer.
- Heat the remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large frying pan or griddle pan over medium-high heat until hot.
- Sear the chicken skewers in batches for 3-4 minutes per side, until cooked through and nicely browned.
- Keep cooked skewers warm in a low oven while you cook remaining batches.
- Serve hot, optionally with smoky aioli.
