Turkey and Black Bean Burgers
Flavorful turkey and black bean patties, seasoned and pan-fried, served on buns with your favorite toppings for a satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 15 oz black beans
- ½ red onion
- 2 clove garlic
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp chili powder
- ½ tsp cumin
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 4 hamburger buns
- 4 lettuce leaves (optional)
- 4 tomato slices (optional)
- 2 tbsp ketchup (optional)
- 2 tbsp mustard (optional)
Steps
- Drain and rinse black beans. Mash them roughly with a fork in a medium bowl.
- Finely dice the red onion and mince the garlic. Add to the bowl with mashed black beans.
- Add ground turkey, breadcrumbs, egg, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper to the bowl. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and form into patties about 1-inch thick.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook patties for 5-7 minutes per side, or until internal temperature reaches 165°F and burgers are browned.
- Toast hamburger buns if desired.
- Serve the turkey and black bean burgers on toasted buns with lettuce, tomato, ketchup, and mustard, if using.
