Turkey Goulash
A hearty and comforting American-style goulash featuring ground turkey, pasta, and a rich tomato sauce, perfect for a family meal.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 8 oz elbow macaroni
- 1 medium yellow onion
- 2 cloves garlic
- 14½ oz canned diced tomatoes
- 15 oz canned tomato sauce
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp paprika
- ½ tsp dried oregano
- ¾ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley (optional)
Steps
- Chop the onion and mince the garlic.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add ground turkey and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
- Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the turkey. Sauté until the onion is softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the diced tomatoes (undrained), tomato sauce, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
- Add the elbow macaroni to the skillet, stirring to ensure it's fully submerged in the liquid. Cover, reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer for 12-15 minutes, or until pasta is al dente, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Remove from heat. If desired, stir in shredded cheddar cheese until melted. Let stand for a few minutes before serving.
- Garnish with fresh parsley, if using, and serve hot.
