Turkey Pesto Melt
A warm and savory sandwich featuring sliced turkey, melted provolone, and fragrant pesto on toasted bread.
Ingredients
- ¾ lb sliced deli turkey
- 8 slice provolone cheese
- 8 slice sourdough bread
- ½ cup basil pesto
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tomato (optional)
- ¼ red onion (optional)
Steps
- Spread a thin layer of butter on one side of each slice of bread.
- On the unbuttered side of 4 bread slices, spread pesto generously.
- Layer turkey and then 2 slices of provolone cheese on top of the pesto-covered bread. Add optional tomato and red onion if desired.
- Top with the remaining 4 slices of bread, buttered-side out.
- Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat.
- Place sandwiches in the hot skillet and cook for 3-5 minutes per side, until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Remove from skillet, slice in half, and serve immediately.
