Ingredients
- 1½ lb lamb leg steaks
- 2 tsp Turkish seasoning blend
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- ½ bunch fresh mint
- 1¼ cup plain yogurt
- 4 pita bread
- ½ head iceberg lettuce
- 1 red onion
- 1 lemon (optional)
Steps
- Preheat grill to high. Season lamb leg steaks with Turkish seasoning.
- Grill lamb for 2 minutes per side until browned but still rare.
- In a bowl, mix 1/2 cup yogurt with oregano and half of the chopped fresh mint. Smother this mixture over the grilled lamb.
- Return lamb to the grill for 2-3 minutes, or until the yogurt is blistered and the lamb is cooked to your preference.
- While lamb rests, toast pita bread. Shred lettuce and thinly slice the red onion.
- Stir the remaining chopped mint into the remaining 3/4 cup plain yogurt to create a mint yogurt sauce.
- Thickly slice the lamb and stuff into pita bread with shredded lettuce, sliced red onion, and a generous dollop of mint yogurt sauce.
- Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the top before serving, if desired.
