Waldorf Chicken Salad
A classic American salad featuring tender chicken, crisp apples, celery, grapes, and walnuts in a creamy mayonnaise dressing.
Ingredients
- 1½ lb cooked chicken breast, shredded or diced
- 2 celery stalks, diced
- 1 red apple, diced
- 1 cup green grapes, halved
- ½ cup walnuts, chopped (optional)
- ¾ cup mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- 4 lettuce leaves (optional)
Steps
- In a large bowl, combine the shredded or diced cooked chicken, diced celery, diced red apple, and halved green grapes.
- In a separate small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, salt, and black pepper until smooth.
- Pour the dressing over the chicken mixture and stir gently until all ingredients are well coated.
- If using, fold in the chopped walnuts.
- Taste and adjust seasonings as needed.
- Serve immediately, or chill for at least 30 minutes for flavors to meld. Serve on lettuce leaves or as a sandwich filling.
