Classic Cheeseburgers
Juicy beef patties topped with melted cheese, fresh produce, and a special sauce, all nestled in a toasted bun for a timeless American classic.
Ingredients
- 1½ lb ground beef
- 4 cheddar cheese slices
- 4 hamburger buns
- 4 lettuce leaves
- 1 tomato
- ½ red onion
- ¼ cup mayonnaise
- ¼ cup ketchup
- 2 tbsp dill pickle relish
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- 4 pickles (optional)
Steps
- Form ground beef into four equal patties, about 1/2 inch thick. Season generously with salt and pepper.
- Preheat a grill or large skillet over medium-high heat. Toast hamburger buns lightly on the grill or in a dry pan; set aside.
- Cook patties for 3-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheese on each patty to melt.
- While patties cook, slice tomato and red onion. In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, ketchup, and dill pickle relish for the special sauce.
- Assemble burgers: Spread special sauce on both halves of the toasted buns. Layer with lettuce, tomato, red onion, a cheeseburger patty, and pickles (if using).
- Serve immediately with your favorite sides.
